Waxed canvas is a hot material these days, appearing more and more on the market. With its natural advantage of being water resistant and a texture that lends itself beautifully towards the vintage style, it’s not hard to see why.
Still, though, waxed canvas products are more or less geared towards outdoor equipment. It makes sense — the durability of the fabric makes it a given for outdoor wear. But there are a few brands that are rethinking waxed canvas as more of a fashion item. One of those is Builford, which is an upstart Korean brand, taking its place as Seoul establishes itself as a fashion capital.
While Builford does have a line of outdoors rucksacks and backpacks, they also have a wide range of bags, from small over the shoulder sling bags to medium messenger bag styles and large travel and trekking bags. Big or small, though, each Builford pack is half-practical item, half-fashion item. Blending waxed canvas and oiled premium cowhide leather with brass finishings, the bags fall under the relatively new fashion category of “luxury vintage.”
It might be a surprise to see such a rugged fabric being labeled fashion, but it’s hard to deny the quality and beauty of Builford designs. To find out more, please visit the website at www.builford.com.
